We formally invite you to gain insight into everything Unpaved Highway does as we drive through the creation and recording of our songs.
Patreon is akin to a two lane highway. Whereas most social media is designed to have an artist push content out to you for your reaction, Patreon is YOUR website to interact with Unpaved Highway on a completely new level. We want to provide experiences you wish you could get with other artists you enjoy. We want to connect with you, to create relationships and create context for our songs that imbue them with deeper meaning. Without you there is no purpose to have the band. You are the reason we are putting in the incredibly long and difficult hours to write, record, edit and document the entire process. We can’t do it without you and we certainly don’t want to do it alone.
We want to share the experiences of our entire creative process from writing to recording songs. We are going to give you unabashed access to everything we do, not just share the good things. You will have access to our Patreon-only Feed, with the sketches, working notes, original demos and so much more, so you can see how each song has developed. Of course, you will get an exclusive link to download the finished song in a Patreon-only post, and probably a whole bunch of awesome other things in a package that I won’t give away anywhere else. We have initiated some other rewards for you, but it is your site too, so let us know what you want out of the experience.
Why Unpaved Highway is on Patreon with YOU
We need to create professional quality recordings. Last year Eric recorded Hung in Custody in a home studio and mixed the song himself before sending it for mastering. The song turned out alright, but sounds like a good demo that should never get terrestrial radio play. He realized when the finished product came back from the mastering engineer that the production and mix was not professional enough to let the mastering really polish the recording. We want to do better, much better.
A few months ago we sent our demos to Stuart Epps in London and he is very interested in producing and mixing our songs. In his words, it would be like us recording at Abbey Road Studio. We feel our brand of Rock music is perfectly suited for him, as he has worked with Elton John, George Harrison and Jimmy Page, to name just a few. Hiring a professional like Stuart is an expense we cannot afford without knowing there is a return on the investment. This is where you come in….
Recording an independent album is like putting a cart before the horse; we can build the cart, but we can't afford the horse. Our goal is to have your collective patronage of $1000 per song. This is not a lot of money, but more than we have to spend. Patreon allows you to help fund the production, mixing and mastering of our recordings, guaranteeing you will get amazing finished songs that you are proud to share with your friends and get played on the radio. We need you to help us take the songs from the studio to the radio.
